How could I make money as a business coach?

“There’s no business like the business of making money for people!”

Perhaps the best way to illustrate the power of assisting businesses make more money is to share some real life stories with you. If we were to share just how much money can be made as an independent business coach without proper explanation, most people would be skeptical, and rightly so. What you must remember though is that the best business coaches make most of their money based on the additional profits that a company makes as a direct result of implementing their ideas. The advantage of being paid in this way is that it creates a real win-win scenario for both the coach and the business owner.

As a business coach you have one of the most important aspects of wealth creation going for you right from the start… leverage. To clarify, as the business owner, you would have to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars to start the business. This would go into plant, stock, equipment, marketing and general business expenses. As a business coach you have all those resources at your disposal without the investment or risk. You simply take a cut of the profit over and above what the business already makes…and this additional profit can be quite substantial with the right knowledge.

Let me give you some examples…

One of our trained Business Coaches recently worked with a Jewellery store. He assisted this client to write a specially crafted sales letter to send to his clients. In total the mail campaign cost the owner $900 to implement and it generated over $33,500 in additional sales in the first few days. When you consider that this strategy could be used again and again, you can quickly see that there is a lot of money to be made here. From the Business Coaches perspective there may have been one or two hours work in crafting the letter and coaching the client, however the return on an hourly base could be huge.

Another example is Gold Coast based coach, Les Luxford. The client is a restaurant called Fratellis. In just 3 months their turnover nearly tripled. This business went from turning over about $10,000 per week to $25,000 per week as a direct result of Les’s work with them. They have had to move into larger premises. His success was so substantial that he, together with the client, was featured in Wealth Creator magazine.

Again, what is it worth to the business owner? The answer…a lot!

As a final example, another of our Business Coaches worked closely with a drive-way company. The 3 owners of this particular business were “rough and ready” tradespeople with little finesse for the finer points of dealing with the public.   After an initial consultation the Business Coach determined that the owners needed:

  • An effective telephone answering script that got more appointments.

  • An effective quoting and follow-up process to get more deals.

  • A strategy to increase their prices and thereby their profit.

  • These needs were identified through a special questionnaire.

Essentially these guys were getting about 10 enquiries per day but only converting 1 in 10 to an appointment. Of the 1 in 10 appointments, they were getting 1 in 3 to buy. The average sale was $3,000.

Summary before Business Coaching:

  • 60 calls/week = 6 appointments

  • (1 in 10) = 2 sales (1 in 3) = $6,000 in sales

What the Business Coach did was structure a special telephone script (based on our products) that increased the appointment rate from 1 in 10 to 7 in 10! That’s a 700% increase in appointments.

Before the phone script, this business was just handing out quotes over the phone with no strategy what-so-ever. After the telephone script, this business was taking an unusual interest in the customers needs which lead to a massive increase in appointments.

From there, these owners then used a specially crafted quoting document that detailed all the finer points about the work they would do for the client. In the past they simply scribbled a quote on a piece of paper and “left it with them.” Today they tender a professional quote and use a simple but very professional follow-up phone script. This has resulted in 1 sale being achieved from every 2 appointments as apposed to 1 sale from every 3 appointments.

Finally, they were able to put their prices up by 10% because they were now perceived as the leaders in drive-ways. So instead of an average sale of $3,000 they were now getting $3,300 on average.

Combined, this mix of simple improvements is potent! Let’s do the math.

Before seeking the help of a Business Coach using BBI products:

  • 60 calls/week = 6 appointments = 2 sales = $6,000 in sales.

After the professional assistance from a Business Coach using BBI products:

  • 60 calls/week = 42 appointments (7 in 10) = 21 sales (1 in2) = $69,300 in sales.
